Hold Them Close

The day before yesterday, 

I wanted to be a Ray of Sunshine, 

So that my children may feel the warmth of my light and my affection, 

For they mean the world to me.

So, I took them in my arms and held them close.

Yesterday, 

I wanted to be Love, 

So that my children would know how much I love them and how much they mean to me, 

For they are my world.

So, I took them in my arms and held them close.

Today, 

I want to be an impenetrable Shield, 

So I may protect my children from the horrors of this world and make them feel safe, 

For they mean everything to me.

So, I took them in my arms and held them close.

I don’t know what I will wish for tomorrow,

But at least I know,

It will start by holding my children close.
